Step 1: Prepare the Sourdough Starter

Before you begin making your sourdough bread, you’ll need to prepare your sourdough starter. Follow a simple recipe like this one create a vibrant and active starter that will give your bread its characteristic flavor and rise.

Step 2: Mix the Dough

In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour, water, and salt. Add a portion of your sourdough starter to the mixture and stir until a shaggy dough forms. Cover the bowl with a clean kitchen towel and let it rest at room temperature for several hours or overnight.

Step 3: Shape and Proof the Dough

Once your dough has risen and doubled in size, it’s time to shape it into a loaf. Using Ecopack’s plumpy mould, which eliminates the need for greasing and promotes an eco-friendly baking experience, shape the dough into a round loaf and place it in the mould. Cover the mould with a kitchen towel and let the dough proof until it has doubled in size once again.

Step 4: Bake the Bread

Preheat your oven to the desired temperature and place the mould with the proofed dough inside. Bake the bread until it’s golden brown and sounds hollow when tapped on the bottom. Remove the bread from the mould and let it cool on a wire rack before slicing and serving. Or, if you’d like to package and gift this to someone or prepare an order for your home-baking business, just keep the mould on. It’s resistant to moisture and leaves a last impression.

Step 5: Enjoy Your Homemade Sourdough Bread

Once cooled, slice into your freshly baked sourdough bread and enjoy it with your favorite toppings or as a side to your favorite meals. With its delicious flavor and chewy texture, homemade sourdough bread is sure to become a staple in your kitchen.
